Members cds Posted January 24, 2015 Members Report Posted January 24, 2015 Hello to all, I just got my 1541 setup yesterday. This is my first time ever owning and using a sewing machine. I was playing around with a cut up old wallet today to see if I could keep straight on lines and turn corners. Not really sure if I have my tension setup properly or not. I am using #69 Nylon w\18 diamond point. Here is the top stitch which I am fairly happy with: Here is the bottom: Not sure if you can see it but the bottom thread feels very high and not sunken down in the leather like the top stitch. Maybe this is normal??? Here is another side on the leather of the bottom stitch. This one does not seem as high. Any experience and helpful hints is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Chris Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted January 24, 2015 Contributing Member Report Posted January 24, 2015 Most of the "dimple" appears to be from the leather being pushed into the bottom foot. Still, I think I would increase the top tension just slightly. You ideally want to NOT see the knots. Quote
Northmount Posted January 24, 2015 Report Posted January 24, 2015 Increase the top tension to pull the knots up into the leather. Tom Quote
Members biglew Posted January 24, 2015 Members Report Posted January 24, 2015 yup... increase tension the knots should never be seen... they should meet in the middle Quote
Members cds Posted January 24, 2015 Author Members Report Posted January 24, 2015 Thanks everyone! How do you get rid of the dimples? Does this mean the needle is dull? Quote
