eglideride Report post Posted April 10, 2015 Tandy stores are having a "Big Sale" this weekend - I purchased one of theirs- does a good job. $70.00 +/-if I remember correctly
Tugadude Report post Posted April 10, 2015 This one is on sale tomorrow and Saturday, unfortunately 1-1/2" long. You could use a 1" and use it twice, overlapping to get your desired width. With care, you can't tell the difference.
Tugadude Report post Posted April 10, 2015 (edited) Checked Springfield and it appears their only 1-1/4" punch is Osborne. You might email or call them. They are very helpful! Edited April 10, 2015 by Tugadude

I want to punch a slot with a whack, It takes too much time to marking, punching, cut slots quite possibly you might need a bigger hammer.... even if it came dull you should still be able to use it... a little 2000 grit stone and a strop will work wonders. I have hurt my hand in the past working with old mallet dies so I do hear what you are saying... but no punches come razor sharp..in my past experience good luck Lew
TwinOaks Report post Posted April 10, 2015 If I may offer: There are several threads here addressing the topic of sharpening punches. Your punch may just need edge dressing.
paprhangr Report post Posted April 10, 2015 I have these from weaver they come sharp and work well for meWas looking at the weaver oblong. They are pricey, that's ok as long as the do the job.I have a weaver round punch that is excellent one whack with my deadblow and I have a clean perfect 3/8" hole. What size slot does your weaver oblong make. Width/length, some punches make too narrow a slot for sliding a strap through.

I have not had any problem with putting a 1 1/2 " belt trough the slots. the slot is 1 1/2" by about 1/4 to 5/16" hope this helps
Gump Report post Posted April 10, 2015 Be careful with Tandy punches, as they are not the size advertised. Some are as much as 1/8" shy of supposed size. As for sharpness, I have never seen a real sharp factory edge on any tool. Fine grit silicone paper and a small wooden dowell will take the grinding marks out of the inside of the punch and just polish up the outside.
