Mark Peters Report post Posted April 22, 2015 Center pocket is made from some Horween Tobacco chamois scrap that I picked up from a member here. The outer pockets are cane toad. The hides were very small leaving me few options. The center pocket is a little tight - I imagine it will stretch a bit with use. Can carry four cards easily, perhaps six with some stretch. Still working on my hand stitching. More even on this go around, but still a long way to go. MJP
Bruce H Report post Posted April 22, 2015 Looking good...I like the cane toad material. Your stitching looks better than mine. As they say practice makes perfect. Good luck with future projects!
JAZZMAN Report post Posted April 22, 2015 Mark this really does look quite nice, very luxurious looking leather, some people would cahrge a lot of money for such an item, great work.
Colt W Knight Report post Posted April 23, 2015 How much are cane toad hides? There are so many in Australia, you would think they would be too much.
Mark Peters Report post Posted April 23, 2015 Thank you all for the kind words. The hides are $12-$14 each from what I've found in the US. The ones I have are pretty small with an irregular shape. It took two hides to make this piece.
istaunton Report post Posted April 23, 2015 Pretty nice wallet. I do like the look of the cane toad alright. I do think some edge finishing would really bring it up a lot. Burnishing and maybe dying or edge coating. Nice job
