verus22 Report post Posted May 17, 2015 Everything going great until the stitching...had to redo a few times (tough trying to sew through 3 layers of leather). Ended up cutting it a bit shorter, skiving the ends, and restitching twice (after all the other times!). I had thought it wouldn't be too hard...but it taught me a ton of new lessons (plus I stabbed myself at least a half-dozen times by accident). I'm going to show this to my customer, but I don't think this is the length he wanted (this one is 12 inches), so I'll probably have to make another one. However, it'll make a great model I can use with future customers. (I need to clean up a couple stitches though...but no biggie.)

verus22 Report post Posted May 18, 2015 Thanks! I need to get some more of my lighting set up...I just use one soft light at the moment...I mainly use it for lighting up my workbench, but since it's right there, I use it for the photograpy as well. The 'backdrop' is a yard of canvas I picked up for burnishing, but it works great for the pics too.
Tugadude Report post Posted May 18, 2015 Looks good to me! I like the accent groove and the black edging, very sharp. Did you consider skiving the part that bends around the clasp? That will make your stitching easier and not affect the strength much. It looks pretty thick in that area.
verus22 Report post Posted May 18, 2015 I skived both ends, but not around the bend (did the same with the first one as well). I did it more for feel than anything...didn't want it too chunky in the hand.
