Has anyone tried successfully dulling resolene by adding matte fluid medium? It is suppose to work with acrylic paints and resolene I hear is acrylic.

Any other ways to dull down resolene? It sounds like the best finish but isn't matte like the other finishes.

Resolene is an ammonia base product. Water works the best to cut it.

Dave, I use Leather Shene Aerosol from Fiebing over the dried Resolene. It dulls the Resolene and gives it a different feel.

If you airbrush resolene on you can get the sheen you are wanting......simply by applying the number of coats to get the finish you are looking for.

does anyone have pictures of 50/50 resolene. I hear that resolene can be plastic looking when full but haven't seen it in the flesh or in pictures.

What I use now is leather balm and it has a tacky feeling and an odd smell to it.

Thanks for the tips I will try them out.

I only use 50/50 Resolene to finish. I just wipe it on with a sponge that's had the water squeezed out. Gives a nice mellow sheen without feeling plastic. Once this dries I rub in a beeswax conditioner.
