Members Treed Posted June 27, 2015 Members Report Posted June 27, 2015 Started looking for something to carry 1911, mags and AR 15 mags. Everything I found was for a full tactical loadout. I am not on the SWAT team anymore so I wanted something simple and usable, easy to put on in the night for defense or to go to the range with. Something easy to mount 2 to 4 mags [28 to 36 rounds] for the 1911 and 1 or 2 AR mags [60 to 90 rounds]. This is the rig that I came up with, Herman Oak leather 10 oz and fully lined. Holster is drop with thump break, drop has some flexibility but will retain its shape with molded kydex insert. All mag pouches are wet molded to the magazines. Quote
Members camano ridge Posted June 27, 2015 Members Report Posted June 27, 2015 That's a good looking out fit. Wheres the tactical light? Quote
Troy I Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 (edited) Very nice...what color of dye did you use? I really like that color. Edited June 27, 2015 by Troy I Quote
Members Treed Posted June 27, 2015 Author Members Report Posted June 27, 2015 I haven't gotten around to building a holster for the light....still old school and use a hand held light... There was no dye used.... natural leather with good dip of neastfoots oil and some natural sun light. Quote
Members Jon P Posted June 28, 2015 Members Report Posted June 28, 2015 That's a fine looking rig!! Quote
Members Josh Ashman Posted June 29, 2015 Members Report Posted June 29, 2015 Very nice Bobby! I've been thinking of doing something similar but haven'y gotten around to it yet. SF Quote
Members JoshD Posted February 17, 2016 Members Report Posted February 17, 2016 i like it, are there any more examples of this on the forums? Quote
Members Double Daddy Posted February 17, 2016 Members Report Posted February 17, 2016 Awful glad I logged on today...very nice work, Bobby! That's a great alternative to the usual black color for such rigs. Very inspiring... Quote

Members CowboyDan Posted July 5, 2016 Members Report Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) I think I may be making one like this. I've been contemplating it, but hadn't figured out how to do the holster & AR pouch. I really like how you did those. Edited July 5, 2016 by CowboyDan Quote
bikermutt07 Posted July 5, 2016 Report Posted July 5, 2016 Great job. It doesn't look remotely tactical. Which I think is an accomplishment in itself. Quote
Members Colt W Knight Posted July 6, 2016 Members Report Posted July 6, 2016 Slick rig. Have you tried some Magpul mags in that leather holster? I was just curious if that synthetic material would slide in and out of the leather. Quote
Members Treed Posted July 6, 2016 Author Members Report Posted July 6, 2016 Magpul's work great in it..... A friend calls it the Tactical Rancher. Quote
Members CowboyDan Posted July 9, 2016 Members Report Posted July 9, 2016 I've been studying your pictures a little more, and have some questions: Is the drop holster leg strap adjustable? Is the kydex insert in the holster part, or the drop-leg part? Quote

Is the kydex insert in the holster part, or the drop-leg part? The strap is adjustable only with Chicago screws. The kydex is in the drop leg to keep the butt of the gun out slightly for a strong grip on the gun during the draw Edited July 12, 2016 by Treed adding info Quote
Members steelhawk Posted July 16, 2016 Members Report Posted July 16, 2016 That's quite a rig. I pity the terrorist who gets in your way. Quote
Members plinkercases Posted July 16, 2016 Members Report Posted July 16, 2016 Throw a SG shell slide on there and you are all set for three gun. Nice work. Quote
Members msdeluca Posted July 17, 2016 Members Report Posted July 17, 2016 Well... you're going to have to steer clear of gun free zones now... Good looking rig, thanks for sharing! Quote
