Members ChelseaC Posted June 29, 2015 Members Report Posted June 29, 2015 Looking for 1/8" rubber soling or maybe veg tanned leather to add to the soles of sandals. Where can I look for these? What would be the best way to cut them out and make the edges smooth with easy to find tools? Quote
Members TigerPal Posted June 29, 2015 Members Report Posted June 29, 2015 You might ask a local shoe repairman if he/she would order a sheet or half-sheet or rubber sole material for you. Quote
Members johnv474 Posted July 3, 2015 Members Report Posted July 3, 2015 Smooth or with a tread? Solid or foam? Look for shoe repair supply houses. An 18"x18" piece of generic rubber soling should cost about 9 bucks plus shipping. That would be considered a quarter sheet, where a half sheet is about 18"x36". Landwerlen Leather in Indianapolis will ship out just one piece if needed. In fairness, I'm associated. Quote
Fordpkup Posted July 11, 2015 Report Posted July 11, 2015 I couldn't find an online store for Landwerten. Quote
Members johnv474 Posted July 15, 2015 Members Report Posted July 15, 2015 FrankfordLeather.com has an online catalog I believe. Landwerlen sells similar products but does not have a Web store. You may want to look at "Crepe sheets" on their site, which are a type of aerated/foam rubber-type material in various densities and thicknesses. 6 iron is 1/8". Quote
Members Colt W Knight Posted August 1, 2015 Members Report Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) You can buy most sheet stock rubbers from McMaster-Carr much cheaper than ordering from specialty stores. McMaster is a supplier or hardware and raw materials for construction and fabrication. They are great resource for a lot of items. http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-rubber-sheets/=yaqgmp Edited August 1, 2015 by Colt W Knight Quote
