tboyce Report post Posted July 9, 2015 I've been thinking of investing in a rivet setting machine but the machine and the dies are so expensive. Surely someone has run across a less expensive option or supplier out there. If you have, I'd appreciate some advice Thanks Tom
cgleathercraft Report post Posted July 9, 2015 Here is what I have. use it for line 20/24 snaps and 10mm rivets. I will use it for more when I have a need and buy the dies. I bought the package deal - setter with 3 dies (that you get to pick).

retiredff Report post Posted November 29, 2015 Has anyone modified an arbor press to use these dies? What size holes do I need? From their web site the bottom die requires a hole and the upper die is threaded (1/4-20 or?) I would buy their press but if I can use my arbor I save some $$ Thanks

eglideride Report post Posted November 29, 2015 Black Friday sale at Tandy- Picked up the Tandy press for $89.99. (in store only, over the weekend) Hoping to find dies somewhere other than Tandy. Die sets at their best discount are $60.00 and UP! ( maybe I should have looked at the Gold Star set up above first?) Picked a couple other advertised items too. Felt like I did ok. I was in Indianapolis IN at a family event- slipped away for an hour- sweet!
paprhangr Report post Posted November 30, 2015 I got a die holder for my tandy press from black river lazer Allows me to chuck in the tandy mini punch kit that has the 6 punch sizes. Works great punching sizing holes, screw and rivet holes. The Gold Star hole punch is not right for leather work unless they got one recently.
eby Report post Posted January 18, 2016 I also use the Gold Star press (the cheaper $80 one.) It works pretty darn well and you sure can't beat $20 dies! I have ligne 20 & 24 round spring snap dies and a small (don't recall the size) single cap rapid rivet die. All work well. I did find that some ligne 20 snap sockets would not fit over the die. I finally chucked that die in my drill press and power filed it down a bit. Now it fits anything I give it. I also got some brass plated steel ligne 20 snaps from Gold Star with the press, but they are pretty crummy in my opinion and I won't use them at all. I'll likely be adding a #00 grommet die and ligne 16 parallel spring snap die. I really think the press and dies are a pretty good value. Plus I'm always happy NOT giving money to Tandy...
