panchoskywalker Report post Posted September 9, 2015 Hi everyone, I do mainly watch strap and I usually work with RIZLA 0.6mm thread, but as I am outside US I need to buy everything online and it takes 1 month to get here, plus, I must pay shipping and import taxes, so I was thinking about buying a few complete spools to avoid falling short, as I am now. So looking on ebay I've found a chinese seller that offers 20 spools for about US$40, problem is it is 0.8mm instead of 0.6. Do you have any exemple of small work stitch with 0.8mm that you could show me or do you think 0.8 could make it on watch straps or is it too thick? grmnsplx Report post Posted September 9, 2015 If you're making watch straps, 0.6 tiger thread at 9 spi is probably as big as you want to go for a traditional look. there are lots of great looking straps out there with larger threads and stitches - a more rugged and utilitarian look. When I looked at conversion charts, .6 is equal to like 277. Now, I use 277 on thicker holsters and sheaths, but that's not the point, this is thick stuff. Riza thread is FLAT and at its widest point, .6 thread is .6 wide. but Its height is like .1 or .2, which is why it's ok for thinner leathers.
