Members JamesR Posted November 14, 2015 Members Report Posted November 14, 2015 Hello, When you saddle stitch a gusset to the front or back of a case do you expect to trim the gussets flush, or do you painstakingly try to keep the two pieces aligned to avoid trimming? I try to do the latter but it is difficult sometimes. I know I can sand veg tanned leather edges but what is to be done with latigo except trim it? Thanks Quote
Members Tugadude Posted November 14, 2015 Members Report Posted November 14, 2015 I try to keep them flush. Seems to me trimming opens up the potential for real problems. Sanding happens, of course, but I try to avoid any cutting post-stitch. YMMV! Quote
Members Colt W Knight Posted November 15, 2015 Members Report Posted November 15, 2015 If I'm hand stitching, I get it as close as possible. With a machine I make sure to leave a little extra so I can trim. Quote
