Members Mhicks Posted February 23, 2016 Members Report Posted February 23, 2016 This one is a little bigger than the one I made for myself. Improved on a few things but still not quite where I would like the overall quality to be. Quote

How was it made and was it designed to fit a certain camera? I got the insert off of amazon, if you search for "Ciesta Flexible Camera Partition" there are quite a few other ones but this was the largest that I could find and it was $37 I think and was so much nicer than trying to make the insert. Beautiful job, lots of work. Thank you, having to work on everything after it is shaped makes it a fairly slow process Very sexy Thank you! Quote
Members JamesR Posted February 24, 2016 Members Report Posted February 24, 2016 Mhicks, Thank you for the info on the camera insert. This solves some problems for me. Quote
Members venator Posted February 25, 2016 Members Report Posted February 25, 2016 What did you stiffen it with? What did you line it with? I'm very curious as it's just gorgeous. If you finished the edges it would be amazing IMHO. Quote
Members Mhicks Posted February 25, 2016 Author Members Report Posted February 25, 2016 (edited) I did not use any stiffner, the only place that it could really use it would be on the front and maybe the lid but the wide flange on the lid really help it hold it's shape. The liner is a lamb or goat that I found at tandy, it wasn't big enough to get a one peice cut so next time I'll take my templete with me to make sure. Which edges are you referring to? I added a 5/8" 2oz veg tan strip to the inside edges to cover where the liner stopped and to be able to burnish the edges of the opening, I didn't dye the edges but they are burnished with wax. I'm not asking to be contrary, any critiques are appericiated as I would like to improve anything that I can. Edited February 25, 2016 by Mhicks Quote
Members venator Posted February 25, 2016 Members Report Posted February 25, 2016 Ah, it's the lack of dye that fooled me. Things like that are hard to tell from the pictures vs in person, I dye my edges when I burnish so I didn't realize you had burnished them. Well sometimes I do. . . Quote
