Timbo Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Heres some pics of a couple cell phone holsters I just finished. The border stamped one is finished with some tinted EVOO that I mixed up. The flower one is finished with TLF's new all in one antique/dye, which is very easy to use. It looks like a multi part dye then antique job, but it was just one step. It is finished with Bee Natural Rudy's. These are for Razr phones. Let me know what you think. Tim Quote
Members leathernut Posted January 27, 2008 Members Report Posted January 27, 2008 i like them a lot!! came out real clean on design and tooling.nice job .. Quote
Members craftsman827 Posted January 27, 2008 Members Report Posted January 27, 2008 Timbo, I like them both. Very nice work! I would wear either one. I love making cases, & yours came out FINE. About the EVOO, " are you related to Rachael Ray" lol Quote
Timbo Posted January 27, 2008 Author Report Posted January 27, 2008 Sadly, no, I'm not related to her. The EVOO tip I got from Will Ghormley. He pretty much uses it on everything. I like making cases too.....seems like mostly what I do anymore. I made some really cool wood bucks to use on these. Tim Quote
JohnD Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Very nice. What weight leather did you use and are they lined? Very nice indeed. John Quote
Timbo Posted January 28, 2008 Author Report Posted January 28, 2008 They are not lined and are made from 7-8 oz veg tan. Tim Quote
Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted January 28, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted January 28, 2008 Timbo. I like your Moulding.....like your design (shape of the cases) Tooling and Carving looks great & The Stiching Quote

Members Warren Posted January 30, 2008 Members Report Posted January 30, 2008 Wow! They both look great but, I love the borderstamp! I think you have them down cold. I don't think anyone could do it any better. Quote
Members CitizenKate Posted January 30, 2008 Members Report Posted January 30, 2008 Ooooo.... very nice, Timbo. Nice clean look. Kate Quote
Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted January 30, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted January 30, 2008 Timbo when you moulded the cases did you make a wood form to do your molding ? I have been asked to do 24 Zippo lighter cases. I started cutting out the wood today. Quote
Contributing Member Jordan Posted January 30, 2008 Contributing Member Report Posted January 30, 2008 a couple of pics of what I did for mine, just thought you might like to see'um Quote
SCOUTER Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Timbo, SWEET! Nice Stiching, Tooling and NICE SNAP! Thanks for posting! Jordan- Also nice! I guess you case the leather and place the square-holed wood piece over the form and sandwich the leather? Wet-forming is Quote
Contributing Member Jordan Posted January 30, 2008 Contributing Member Report Posted January 30, 2008 Yup, a couple of C clamps overnight, had alot of fun making the mould and the cases, not very efficient for production but came out pretty good for not really knowing if it would work, I have even sold a few. I started cutting out the wood today. Luke, I do them pretty much the way Jordan shows. Funny thing is that I just made a Zippo buck over the weekend too. I make all of my bucks out of oak and use c clamps as well. Only problem with oak is if you leave them in too long they start to turn color as it draws the tannin out of the oak. I take mine out after about half an hour and set them aside and let them dry. On the cell cases I use a big enough chunk of leather to press mold all 4 sides then cut off the top. When you try to do three sides the open/top side won't pull tight. Which is okay for lighters as it makes it easier to get out of the case. But I still wind up cutting some of the top off anyway. Thank you all for kind words!!! Tim Quote
