Leather western style holster for G19 w/tlr1 light

Hello, my first post and i want to build my first holster. Is there a such thing as a western style holster being used for a g19 with tlr1 light? Just want something that isn't a drop leg thing.

Uhh, . . . John Wayne and Clint Eastwood didn't like Glocks............

But, anyway, . . . I have never made one as you have described, . . . but I have built many holsters for 1911's which have a similar frame.

It can be done, . . . what you want to do is get a copy of John Bianchi's western holster making DVD's or VHS tapes.  Either one will show you the mechanics of making a holster like that, . . . and if you take your time, . . . it will be a holster you will be proud of.

You most likely do not have a sewing machine, . . . so instead of making it with two layers of 6/7 oz veggie tan, . . . you can use one layer of 8/9 oz or 9/10 oz and achieve a good looking holster much like John Wayne used in True Grit or a couple of his other Western movies.  You will have to sew one seam, . . . the seam that will be under the trigger guard and the light.  You will also want to make it a closed bottom and let the weapon rest on the front of the flashlight instead of the muzzle of the gun.

If you don't find anything (try Ebay) let me know by PM, . . . I have a couple of Glock blue guns, . . . and could probably whip up some kind of rough pattern for you.

Do you also want to tool it, . . . decorate it with concho's, . . . or anything like that?

Thanks for the reply. LOL the Duke may have come to appreciate the ruggedness and reliability of a Glock given the chance.

So I am planning to use the basic pattern on this forums page Cowboy Holster tutorial. Unlined, welt and with a holster loop. being this isn't a wet formed holster I may tackle some carving and stamps (albeit I am extremely limited on skill)

I hope the holster will carry deep enough not to need a retention strap and will build the first one without one. I am afraid that i will have to add one latter though for any kind of use other than a range holster.

i have made a few things but this will be my first pistol holster.

Did you search on here?  Seems I remember that youngster from South Dakota did something like that a while back (and did it fairly WELL).

In my defense, this is a prototype.......no burnished edges, coffee stain, homemade stamp and cheapest craft leather from Tandy.

First holster and you went for a Mexican Loop? My hat is off to you, sir.

My first scratch built was a simple wrap around with a triangular belt loop that (I discovered after making) would tilt all over the place. I could set any cant from vertical to about 45 degrees (barrel pointed behind me). The only way to make it sit still was to tighten my belt down on it.

Carried it for years, but it wasn't near pretty.
