I hope to have it finished tonight and will post the finished piece but wanted to show what I have so far. There are a few places I wish I could change but it is to late now... steveb Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 thats a nice job on carving the letterforms...they pop against the clean background......nice effect, very 3D... I've learned through painful trial and error that when i carve a font with lots of fiddly bits, like this one - i tend to carve it a bit bigger, because I wind up shrinking the design with all the noodling and bevelling that's required. So in response to that, I "beef up" the tiny and spindly parts and make them a bit thicker and substantial, hence, avoiding them turning to mouse shit. as always YMMV Quote

I hate the barbed wire also, I even tried using a lightly scribed guide line.... I wonder if it is easier on some of the higher end tools, I have the tandy version. Quote

Heey guys, I have never seen a barb wire that is actually really straight, be it on a fence or anything else...just an opinion. I did the barb wire on my strap with carving and beveler and the pattern used for it was not even near straight or even in thickness of the wire. I thought this maybe would collide with the olde English lettering wich (in my opinion) came out pretty close to perfect but it worked like a charm. Members BradB Posted January 3, 2009 Author Members Report Posted January 3, 2009 Thanks Guys! I lined it with 3oz and the front is 6-7oz, it is heavy duty and should last a while. It is 3 inches wide and padded, it feels really good with a guitar hanging on it. Yes, it is saddle stitched, and I am still a noob at saddle stitching so it took longer then alot of people on here could finish it, it took about 6 hours to stitch both pieces, it is also about 5 inches longer then a standard guitar strap.
