I'm looking to purchase some copper rivets for the first time.

Tandy has them on sale.  Which one to purchase ?

#9, thick post  or  #12, medium post thickness. ?

I'm using them for 8/10 oz. leather.

There is a place that makes a good set of setters for the copper rivets. Look it up on here if you can. They are suppose to be much better then the tandy setters that you can get. They work but a good set of setting tools really makes them look great.

Well guess it was douglas tools that made them, not sure where you can get them now since sheridan shut down.

I buy my copper rivets from Weaver by the pound. For about the same money as Tandy, you get a lot more rivets. I use the Heritage setter tool that Weaver sell with excellent results. This a very stout tool, and not made of pot metal with chintzy chrome plating. I use a set of Channellock nippers to cut the copper rivets. The long handles and powerful jaws make easy work of it, plus the bevel on the nippers cutting edge cuts the rivet off at the perfect height.
