SharpTools Report post Posted August 9, 2016 I live in central Texas. Have always been playing around with leather, but just didn't realize how long. Recently I was in the attic and found some old childhood toys, (cap guns and Matchbox cars). Well, the little cap gun had a home made, wet molded, leather holster. I must of been 10 years old, (that's over 50 years ago). Impressed myself! Still playing with leather! Joined to learn more about stamping and carving. SharpTools Report post Posted August 13, 2016 Guys, thanks for the requests. I was afraid someone was going to ask to see it. Problem is, it's in the attic and I live in Texas. So, as soon as my attic drops below 125 degrees, I'll go and look for it. May take awhile.
plinkercases Report post Posted August 13, 2016 Childhood holster attempts would be a good thread.... I have mine in a box down stairs (cooler than the attic) and may just pic and post them on a thread like that. Looking forward to seeing yours when it cools down. Here in Toronto we are having a record hot summer and it was 35 Celsius (95F) again today and humid like an arm pit. Maybe not Texas hot but more than we a re used to for more than a day or two but this has been weeks....
AngieNZ Report post Posted August 16, 2016 Welcome aboard , I remember well a keyring I made for my MUM I was 11 that was my very first intro to leather. Now with years gone by, about 10 years ago I thought I ight like to have a go because we had got into breeding horses and thought making my own gear was a good idea.So I started collecting tools and sewing machines and I make radio cases for and outfit here and have built nearly 2 western saddles for me and my daught ( daughter one nearly there) and am starting to play around with carving again. So I think its great to find again something once enjoyed long ago .
SharpTools Report post Posted April 7, 2017 OK, finally got into the attic and retrieved the cap gun and holster. Remember I made this at about 10 years old ( 58 years ago) so don't laugh.

Wedgetail Report post Posted April 7, 2017 Thats awesome! Good effort for a 10yr old... and a good first attempt for most adults too i'd say. Lol Got my first kid on the way soon, can't wait to get him on the tools... he's got to earn his keep somehow, right?
