Members keplerts Posted August 13, 2016 Members Report Posted August 13, 2016 I see Weaver Leather is selling Water Buffalo hides at a decent price. In the product description they say they come for U.S. Hides! Is there a "Water Buffalo" farm in the US or "Wild" ones roaming around that I haven't heard of? I guess I just found this interesting when they said from U.S. Hides. Or is it cow hide that they named Water Buffalo? Quote
Contributing Member Ferg Posted August 13, 2016 Contributing Member Report Posted August 13, 2016 I have an idea the folks doing the writing for Weaver's wouldn't know the difference. Quality checking?????? Ferg Quote
NVLeatherWorx Posted August 14, 2016 Report Posted August 14, 2016 Aside from those in a zoo I don't believe that we actually raise them as we don't really have the correct environment for them to thrive. Besides, I wouldn't recommend the leather for use as it is not a great quality and I speak from experience having spent time in countries where they do actually have the creature roaming the lands. It is just not a good material and should not be given the distinction of leather. Quote
Members keplerts Posted August 14, 2016 Author Members Report Posted August 14, 2016 Thanks, That is kind of what I thought. I just thought it was funny to see "U.S. Hides". I work part time at a Farm Supply/Harness shop and they just got some "Water Buffalo" belt blanks in. The sticker on the blank says country of origin: U.S. America! Quote
Members billybopp Posted August 14, 2016 Members Report Posted August 14, 2016 Maybe its bison that got caught in some flooding. Just sayin'. Quote
