Eero Report post Posted October 25, 2016 Hello all! When I try to sew the strap like in the picture, the needle thread frequently falls apart and sometimes breaks. bootsmt Report post Posted October 25, 2016 (edited) The thread may not be picked up from the needle. Even though th thickness may be equal it is not a smooth surface. You might try a larger needle. Sonydaze Report post Posted October 25, 2016 I would check the end of the needle to make sure it is not burred as well as the hole through the lower feed dog. A deflection can burr both. The timing being out a bit or too large of a gap between the needle and the hook could also cause this. Eero Report post Posted October 26, 2016 Ok, needle is round point 130 and seems ok to me as do lower feed dog. I dissembled the machine a little so I could see the hook and the needle working together and noticed that the hook touches the needle, not much but it can be noticed; hook bends the needle just a little bit. RockyAussie Report post Posted October 26, 2016 If it stitches leather and canvas Ok then I would say the needle location is correct. This type of webbing is likely deflecting the needle at times when it finds the easiest path through the webbing. I have to say I would be tempted to try changing to a thread that holds together better if possible and also try changing the needle to a new one as sometimes that's all it takes however good it may look. Other than that try a bit more foot pressure and a longer pull up on the thread tension take up spring lastly. Regards Brian Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Constabulary Report post Posted November 3, 2016 could be possible that your hook tip is shredding the thread. You probably have to adjust the needle bar a bit. I would guess you have to lower it a bit. Or have to adjust the hook saddle towards the needle. Just guessing... Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Before you go and change the adjustments, try it with a brand new needle, exact same size, and see if the hook clearance changes.
