alexitbe Report post Posted July 2, 2017 That's really impressive... Where exactly did you have to grind down? From my understanding Jimi was talking about the bit of the shuttle that slot in to the race and is pinned there. I guess he was talking about fitting a new shuttle to an old race. Would I be right in thinking that you fitted a "new" shuttle and race to the Frabans and simply ground the race to match the old Frobana... is that correct? In case someone is interested i have found a source of shuttle tension springs here: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Shuttle-Hook-Thread-Spring-Singer-45K-DURKOPP-61-62-Sewing-Machine-Closed-Frame-/272392847123?hash=item3f6be0ff13:g:z7EAAOSwLF1X6v3a
jimi Report post Posted July 2, 2017 sorry alex i maybe should have explained better this is where it might get too thin on some shuttles.
sandyt Report post Posted July 2, 2017 I think you are calling the hook/frame the race. The race is bolted to the machine. The shuttle-hook assembly goes into the race. It oscilates in the race. Now I am thinking about it, I am a little confused now. What is the hook and what is the frame excactly? Is the hook, part of the frame? I think I ground the frame? The left picture is the 'original' that came in the machine. The right picture is an adler shuttle-hook assembly. You can see where to grind now? Sandy. Darren Brosowski Report post Posted July 9, 2017 The frame forms the hook! The hook is, in secret technical terms, "the pointy bit"
Gregg From Keystone Sewing Report post Posted July 10, 2017 It does appear that, by the book anyway, that the Hirose Singer 45K closed and open frame hooks are to be used interchangeable with each other. I checked Koban and Cerliani, they have them, but no real additional information about these hooks.
