Members lawman133 Posted January 29, 2017 Members Report Posted January 29, 2017 Hi this may be a repeat request as the site kicked me off when I submitted it the first time. I'm looking for a YouTube video i can no longer find re a chap who adapted a 3/8 " steel rod bored out to accept Tandy's inexpensive hand setters for use in either their hand press or an arbor press. Any help finding the video would be appreciated as I'm not about to spend over $1000.00 for all of Tandy's dies/setters and hand press. thanks Jim Quote
ChriJ Posted January 30, 2017 Report Posted January 30, 2017 Here's one. I don't know if its the one you were looking for ChriJ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YAw-13czTQ Quote
Members lawman133 Posted February 1, 2017 Author Members Report Posted February 1, 2017 Hi Chris. Thanks for the reply. I've seen that one but it is not the one I am referring to. If I recall it was an English chap who had some that a friend had made up. A very inexpensive way to make the inexpensive hand setters fit into either the Tandy hand press or a $60.00 1 ton arbor press which have a 3/8" hole in the shaft of the press. I looking for a screenshot so I can give it to a tool and die maker and have some made. Jim Quote

bikermutt07 Posted February 16, 2017 Report Posted February 16, 2017 The palmgren .5 ton press has a 3/8 hole already in the ram. The Tandy dies fit in it fine. But you still have to buy the dies. Quote
Members Mattsbagger Posted February 16, 2017 Members Report Posted February 16, 2017 Have any machine shop bore out an Arbor press and put in a set screw. Only problem is the hand setters have various diameter shafts might have to put a sleeve on some. Just search Arbor press modification on YouTube. Quote
Members Brianm77 Posted February 16, 2017 Members Report Posted February 16, 2017 Sounds like the video you are looking for was don by leodis leather. If I remember right in that video, he has to sleeve on of the things he is trying to press with. Good luck, brian Quote
Members chiefjason Posted February 16, 2017 Members Report Posted February 16, 2017 If it's just for rivets I've had a rivet setter attached to my arbor press for a couple years with just a rare earth magnet. I picked up a small metal plate at Tractor Supply to use for the base. I'd like to bore it out to accept some of my hole punches but never got around to it. Quote
