Members dikman Posted April 25, 2017 Author Members Report Posted April 25, 2017 LD, a pretty compact solution, all that weight should make it quite stable. Mess? What mess? Evo, that is also an interesting stand. Great solutions, people, I love seeing what others come up with. Quote Machines wot I have - Singer 51W59; Singer 331K4; Seiko STH-8BLD; Pfaff 335; CB4500. Members LumpenDoodle2 Posted April 26, 2017 Members Report Posted April 26, 2017 The only problem I've had (if you can call it a problem), is if I'm winding a bobbin, and give it wellie, the stand will shake. There again, at top speed, the original table shoogled a bit too. I can live with that, as it has gained me enough room in my minuscule workshop for a good sized storage unit (courtesy of Heart of House Tollerton kitchen trolly, with little baskets underneath for my webbing). Members Darren Brosowski Posted April 28, 2017 Members Report Posted April 28, 2017 This is what I currently have, and seems like a lot of wasted space (at least for what I do). I guess the simplest option would be to cut the table back to the actual leg width. This will reduce the width by 14" to 32". Next option is cut and weld the two horizontal metal bars to reduce the width even further. Either way is going to be a lot less work than building a new table. Quote
Members dikman Posted April 28, 2017 Author Members Report Posted April 28, 2017 That's very nice, Darren, and the sort of thing I had in mind. Quote Machines wot I have - Singer 51W59; Singer 331K4; Seiko STH-8BLD; Pfaff 335; CB4500. Chinese shoe patcher; Singer 201K (old hand crank)
Members LumpenDoodle2 Posted April 29, 2017 Members Report Posted April 29, 2017 I do like that single pedestal stand. I'm interested in how the motor will be mounted. Oh, and I've added a picture of my finished table (I even hoovered special). Quote “Equality? Political correctness gone mad, I tell you, gone mad!!!! Next they'll be wanting the vote!!!!! “. Members dikman Posted April 29, 2017 Author Members Report Posted April 29, 2017 Too clean and tidy! How can you find anything? That table of Darren's doesn't look that difficult to make (maybe one day...). As for the motor, mounted underneath the tabletop as per normal I guess. Members LumpenDoodle2 Posted April 30, 2017 Members Report Posted April 30, 2017 Ahh.... I had the image of the machine mounted directly onto the post, possibly with a flat bar fitted a bit lower to mount the motor onto. But fitting a cut down table makes more sense. Especially if you need to cant the machine over to access the innards. Quote “Equality? Political correctness gone mad, I tell you, gone mad!!!! Next they'll be wanting the vote!!!!! “.
