taltexan Report post Posted April 28, 2017 Does all contact cements have the smell and health issues as Barge and Masters?
electrathon Report post Posted April 28, 2017 Renia does not have toluene, the main very bad stuff. There are water based contact cements too. Some are very good, some are poor.
Matt S Report post Posted April 28, 2017 Renia 315 Aquilim is pretty good. It's a water based neoprene contact cement. Doesn't gunk up when stitching (which is great) but it also doesn't dry as fast as normal solvent cement so I help it along with a heat gun. If you're in the US I know that Lisa Sorel sells it (learned of it from her videos so I'm happy to plug).
chuckgaudette Report post Posted April 28, 2017 I recently switched from Barge to EcoWeld that Tandy sells. Its water based contact cement. The bond gets stronger over time. So far I've been happy with it.
taltexan Report post Posted April 29, 2017 What about Barge's TF product? I will check out the Renia brand.
leathersmyth Report post Posted April 29, 2017 Years ago, I switched to water based glues as much as possible to get away from fumes etc... They take longer to dry but i fiqure a small price to pay for less toxic.... Tandy water based contact works pretty good overall.....
