Tougher than I thought, as I had to make my own patterns. I did learn a bit, and will try again. This one will be mine.

I like it. What kind of leather did you use? Did you line the inside with anything?

Thank you. I used 3-4 ounce veg tan. I put a suede band on the inside

Looks good, it the crown 2-piece?  I ask because of the seam.  The hats I make have the seam in the back.

Thank you. It is 2 piece. I was going for a Aussie bush style. The next will probably be one piece if I can get my pattern drawn right, LOL

Especially for hand sewing. I need a machine, lol

Hah, well I'm in the hand sewing camp myself.  If you're planning on cranking them out then a machine may be called for, but I like the character hand sewing gives.

I don't think there is any danger of that at the moment, but a machine sure would speed things up. It is a workout on the hand stitching though. LOL

Besides i would have to figure out how to get head measurements to make a buyer one.

Well done.  I did one about a year or so ago that doesn't look nearly as finished.  I thought the idea of doing a two-ply brim or liner just sounded like too much work. Ha ha. It was just something I had been wanting to do for a while.  Not sure i'll ever attempt another though ;)

That one you did has some style. Because of the way I made the seam on the inside, I thought it would be uncomfortable without a band. It was tougher because I had to hand punch all the holes in the suede as I went along with the stitching , but it was worth the time.

Hoping you got the pattern right to fit the head is the toughest part.

Thank you,. I found a how to online. I made my pattern off that onto posterboard. It was to small, so I had to redraw it and keep cutting out the inside of the brim pattern till it fit my head loosely. It still ended up being tight after everything was sewn together. So I had to wet it and stretch it to fit my head. I still hae some work to do on the measuring thing myself. I think it would be hard to make these for someone else by mail order. Relying on someone to measure their own head correctly would be chancy.
