Members cdthayer Posted June 7, 2017 Members Report Posted June 7, 2017 I’ve got my Consew 226 about ready to put into use, except that I can’t figure out how to balance the forward and reverse stitch lengths. This is the older version of the 226, but I’m not sure which one. It’s not an “R” machine. The reverse stitch length is a much shorter length than the forward. Did I miss a thread where this was discussed? The Consew 226 is built differently than the Singer 111G156, so I can’t use the Singer guide. Thanks for any help. Members Gregg From Keystone Sewing Posted June 8, 2017 Members Report Posted June 8, 2017 Consew over the life of the 226 model series had three frames. This is the earliest one, and may be from the 60s. This has the old style reverse, is what they call it, and that was a long time ago. I have books at my work computer. I'll post tomorrow. Members michaelcbarr Posted April 13, 2021 Members Report Posted April 13, 2021 I'm sure this has been sorted after 4 years but I had similar issues on my 226R and was wondering if you got to the bottom of it? Mb Quote

Members michaelcbarr Posted April 13, 2021 Members Report Posted April 13, 2021 well if you still have the machine - try adjusting these two screws: Please let me qualify this advice by saying I know almost zero about this machine (or any other machine) but I had the exact same issue and it is the only thing I found that worked :D Mb Quote
Members cdthayer Posted April 14, 2021 Author Members Report Posted April 14, 2021 Ok, thanks. I'll give it a try when/if I get the machine back on the bench to fiddle with it. CowboyBob Posted April 14, 2021 Report Posted April 14, 2021 Turning the lower screw to the left will make reverse longer, the upper one is for forward. Quote Bob Kovar Toledo Industrial Sewing Machine Sales Ltd. 3631 Marine Rd Toledo,Ohio 43609 1-866-362-7397
