Help - I think needle broke off in 29k58 needle holder

Recommended Posts

I removed the two screws and I think I can see the needle through the screw holes (only because its brighter than the rest of the machine). How do I get it out?

thanks in advance

Blow some air in the top hole sometimes gets them out.

thanks Bob. We haven't talked in a while. Is Joe Weis still around over here in Brooklyn servicing machines?

Could I push something into the top hole (didn't know there was one) or only room for air?

I would think this isn't an uncommon problem.

I have used a awl to stick in the top hole and then you do small downward lite pressure. The needle shaft should start to drop and then pull with pliers...

Try holding the tip of an electric soldering iron* ( switched on )to outside of the needle bar where the needle is broken off..even a small amount of heat should make the needle bar expand by "a gnats smidgen" and in doing so the hole where the needle is stuck in should get just a little loose around the broken needle shaft so it will drop out.

* don't use a soldering iron with any kind of flame or you'll risk setting fire to the machine oil on the needle bar and any built up lint..which would be sad.

Don't have a soldering iron but have been accused of being a blow hard.
