DJole Report post Posted September 17, 2017 Got this in Seoul, capital of South Korea, a few days ago while on a tour. Cost: 28,000 won (about 28 US dollars). Hardwood (birch or maple), sanded but untreated. Uses a cam lock (red lever on the right, with wooden triangle to help reduce thread catching on the lever, I think) Cam can be adjusted by a screw on the opposite side of the lever. Jaws clamp to board with wingnut; hole in middle of the board and on the end. There were 3 other types of stitching clamps available; one was made with laminated wood, and the other was twice as long as this, going from the floor (I guess floor mounted?) I need to l line the jaws with thin leather before I start any stitching, though.
WoodysWorkshop Report post Posted September 18, 2017 I've been looking at these on Ebay, I've got some stitching and lacing to do soon. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wood-Horse-Leather-Craft-Desktop-Stitching-Sewing-Table-Pony-Clamp-DIY-Tool-FEDS-/162658662384?hash=item25df3637f0:g:zcwAAOSw1blZoBpV
cradom Report post Posted September 18, 2017 Here's one I built last year. Nothing fancy but I can sit in my desk chair without being hunched over. It's 31in high, the jaws are about 5in wide. https://photos.app.goo.gl/c1LLbIgOBWbA4GRs1

Easy to put one in with a drill, of course! 58 minutes ago, cradom said: Here's one I built last year. Nothing fancy but I can sit in my desk chair without being hunched over. bikermutt07 Report post Posted September 19, 2017 I have that one. Mine is made of beech. The cam didn't last long. The bracket that holds the cam to the base bent pretty fast. I am planning to rebuild the whole thing. Nice materials, but the execution was lacking. Hope yours is better.
