Members Fire88 Posted September 23, 2017 Members Report Posted September 23, 2017 So I made my first purse for a buddies daughters birthday. It's not perfect but I believe she'll love it. Lots of learning from this one Quote
Members YinTx Posted September 24, 2017 Members Report Posted September 24, 2017 Neat horse! Did you use pyrography for it? I bet you are right, she's gonna love it. YinTx Quote

YinTx No I swivel knifed it and then used a modeling tool to open the cuts and add a little shape to them. I painted the lines with black paint instead of antique as I was afraid of not being able to remove it from the wrinkles in the leather. Quote
Members YinTx Posted September 24, 2017 Members Report Posted September 24, 2017 Really? What kind of leather is that then? I was presuming a chrome tan of sorts... It came out well. Is the drawing your own art? YinTx Quote
Members Fire88 Posted September 25, 2017 Author Members Report Posted September 25, 2017 Yep it's 5oz veg tan, dyed with a heavily diluted dark brown stain. The wrinkles came from me sewing the bag so the seem would be inside and then turning it right side out, well that didn't work out with the leather thickness so I flipped back cut the stitching apart. Put it back together by resewing it. Few lessons learned - flipping a 5oz bag inside out doesn't work (at least this small) - really think about assembly before starting to sew things together by hand. -hardware is difficult to find locally Quote
Members JD62 Posted September 25, 2017 Members Report Posted September 25, 2017 I know its not what you were going for but I kinda like the wrinkles ! And the horse looks great, overall a nice job! Quote
