It sounds as though having a few different folders is the norm, for most here.

I will have to make an actuall bone or antler folder for myself.

Pretty sure that you meant the third pic above..

Yes, those are all real bone folders. No plastic was hurt in the making of this post... Ha

You're right, the third pic. I had my screen maxed out and only saw the last pics.

So much leather...so little time.

I figured as much, & your explanation makes total sense. You wanted a good look. ;-)

Yes, them actual bone folders are really nice looking, and likely work great.

I will try to make a deer horn folder soon...

What are you using these days, yourself?

I've got one bone folder, and the plastic one with the edgers at the end. Mostly I use the bone folder.  I also use various other items that can  double as folders. Felt pens, spoons, etc.

I had issues with boning holsters and the dark lines caused by the tool. I started using a thick piece of plastic between the tool and the leather. You get the same effect without the dark lines.

When you look around the shop or house, it's amazing how many items can double as a folder. Various sizes and radii. (I tried radiuses, spell check choked on that. Thought it about it for a second and  it came to me!)

So much leather...so little time.

Sounds as though you have it covered, in multiples.

I try not to use my fine dining cutlery, in the hobby arena. ;-)

But do have numerous wood working and outdoor tools, other implements which could certainly double as a folder.

Preferably keeping things in their proper perspectives, I would like to acquire a few more leather tools, and a fine bone or antler folder would be a great addition to my ever growing leather tool collection.

Would you like a piece of antler?  I'm a deer hunter and have plenty of spare antlers laying around.

Oh, I have horn, just reluctant to chop off a tip. Haha

Yeah sure, but I live in Edmonton Alberta. Would you mail it to me? I will PM you my mailing addy and particulars.

I'm just not sure how the Canada customs folks will agree with this...?

Too much snow on the ground, to search for any drops, until spring.

Glad I got this thread reactivated for you, as it sat stagnant for a bit. ;-)

Ok I'll play here are the ones I use.  The 3 wood ones are cherry, oak, maple. Left to right. The rest are all Delrin. All are hand made by me. 20171123_123103_resized.jpg.1d1edcc38f070e5d28c66ff1c5d1d112.jpg20171123_123110_resized.jpg.9537723a7d7ad530528483f94dbeaca9.jpg20171123_123147_resized.jpg.23d3be1c2b95ea2323cc11859a7c549c.jpg
