garypl Posted November 25, 2017 Report Posted November 25, 2017 Finished a couple of new projects - an eyeglass case for my friend ( W&C Chestnut 8-9oz) and a barrel protector to use on a gun rack when shooting trap and skeet - made of 3-4oz veg tan and 8-9oz W&C . Quote Cowboy 4500, Consew 206RB-4
alpha2 Posted November 25, 2017 Report Posted November 25, 2017 So, how is the barrel rest used? I get the notch for the barrel, but does the thing sit on something? Quote So much leather...so little time.
garypl Posted November 26, 2017 Author Report Posted November 26, 2017 It’s made to sit at the top of a gun rack - we have gun racks all around our shotgun courses with cutouts at the top to rest your barrel. I sew a piece of thin lead inside the rear of the leather to weight it down and just slide the rest into the slot so it protects the barrel! When you take the gun out, the rest sits on top of the gun rack until you set the gun back. Here’s a view from the bottom. Quote Cowboy 4500, Consew 206RB-4
Members Fire88 Posted November 26, 2017 Members Report Posted November 26, 2017 Very cool, I bet you could sell quite a few of them. Gotta protect thus shot guns, first and foremost. Quote
alpha2 Posted November 26, 2017 Report Posted November 26, 2017 Ah! Now I get it. That would work at our range. The first pic made it look like it was 3" thick! Had me scratching my head. Thanks. Quote So much leather...so little time.
