Members bullmoosepaddles Posted April 16, 2018 Members Report Posted April 16, 2018 Does anyone know of a source where extra thick hides are available on a regular basis? Quote
Members bullmoosepaddles Posted April 16, 2018 Members Report Posted April 16, 2018 @ nstarleather Thank you kindly. I will do that. I have asked my normal supplier. They say 15/16 oz is as thick as they can get. Having read that the tannery splits the leather to a uniform thickness makes a great deal of sense as to why. I did not think all cows grew the same thickness hides. Quote
Members JerseyFirefighter Posted April 16, 2018 Members Report Posted April 16, 2018 Ive had some sections of 14/16 saddle skirting go up to about 26+oz in certain spots. a few square ft worth along the side. Which for me made it useless for needing 14-16. I was eyeing up a motorized skiver once I can add some more sq ft to my shop. Wonder if it could handle starting at that thickness. Quote
