Members dGinLeatherCraft Posted January 23, 2018 Members Report Posted January 23, 2018 Hi all I've just completed a commission for a steampunk leg bag. I used an oiled leather from Tandy - can this stuff be wet moulded at all please? The bag hangs down 9 inches from the belt so it sits around the upper thigh, for future ones I may try and cut in something like a spiders web pattern into the hanging harness. Any feedback welcome :-) Thanks Harvey Quote
bikermutt07 Posted January 23, 2018 Report Posted January 23, 2018 The bag looks great. I don't think you will have much luck wet molding oil tanned leather. You're gonna need veg tan tooling leather for that. Quote I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with. Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day. From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Members dGinLeatherCraft Posted January 23, 2018 Author Members Report Posted January 23, 2018 Thanks SpaceDog - I'm hoping this one leads to more orders from the local steam-punk groups Quote
Members Deryk Posted January 29, 2018 Members Report Posted January 29, 2018 Interesting strap hanger Quote
Members dGinLeatherCraft Posted January 29, 2018 Author Members Report Posted January 29, 2018 Thanks - I used a coat hanger for the curves and the hook in the middle of the hanger allows lining up on centre marks, low tech works most of the time Quote

Members dGinLeatherCraft Posted February 13, 2018 Author Members Report Posted February 13, 2018 The hanger part between the belt and the bag - I used a curved wooden coat hanger to template the curves and the hook in the middle was used to align on a centre mark whilst making the pattern :-) I hope that helps H Quote
