Bump after 1hr? Give folks a few hours or days... You have to be patient...

If you need quick information do a google search f.i. for Consew 206:

site:leatherworker.net Consew 206

replace "Consew 206" with the model you need information of.

@Rustic, you can get the ball rolling by telling us why YOU think the machines you listed are even candidates for what YOU want to sew. The machines you list have been discussed dozens of times before.

You have a better chance of getting a meaningful response if you give us some background, show us your homework, tell us what's important to you and what your budget is, and then ask specific questions. This may sound like work, but it's no less work on our end.

We'll, they are all good machines, all designed for the same work.

Two I would eliminate from this list anyway is the 205RB, this is a new model machine, BUT is only a top bottom feed; not a true walking foot with top, bottom and needle feed with alternating pressers like each and every model that you listed.

Also, the Pfaff 545 is from the 60's, not a bad option, but does not belong on this list.

Both of the Jukis and consews 206, 255 phaff 1245 and Adler 867.

Ok, mostly upholstery grade leather with top stitching. Scrim backed foam and some canvas work.

i am used to a top load bobbin, the extra large bobbin on the 1508 appeals to me.

I have Recently heard the 255 is not near the machine as the 206?

And neither phaff or Adler are no longer made in Germany, but China. There could be quality and warranty issues there?

Pros and cons of each??

Pfaff 545 for sure are / were made in Germany but you won´t find them new I think - maybe refurbished but not new. Adler and Pfaff are still present in Germany. The higher end M-Type Dürkopp-Adler machines are made in the Czech Republic by MINERVA as far as I know.

Of all those, I would pick the 1508. Made in Japan, square feed locus, big vertical bobbin, smooth sewing and easy to get original or a myriad of cloned parts for.

I was at a toss up between that and the 2810, I went 2810 for the longer and taller arm.

Yep, NH

The budget and any local machines you have found may be worth discussing.  We are all here to help. So take it and with a bit of homework and hunting its a sure path.  Was for me

The machine number models with there letter designations are a real key.  In the juki 15 series the side loader is to me very nice to operate and perfectly adequate for your task materials.  For the heavier duty task the 1508n is available at a bit more money im sure 500.00 and likely more. This model is said to have more torque than the 41. Though I personaly think its if the need is required, thick seams and many of these obstacles ( consistently ) then yes, imho.

In still a heavier duty machine the 1508NH stands alone with a bit more design.  You must know by now this model comes with even higher price.

In further discussion it needs asking if a pulley speed reduction unit will be needed. And so if leather projects are in the mix it is the slow speed availability that is appreciated.  So an actual key point to discuss, of course project dependent.

Good day

Floyd

I am leaning towards 1508, what are the main differences between the 1508’s and 1541?

I am ruling out the 206 I looked at one close up tonight and sewed a bit. It felt somewhat cheap.

i do not like the reverse on the phaff...

When I get a small shop on one of the tropical islands, I will have to have an 867 long arm.

It's a hard decision to make when your putting down a couple grand or so on a machine,  I have finally picked a machine out with the help of this forum.  But on my own I have read and watched just about every you tube video on industrial machines.  I was looking at the same machines and decided on the Juki 1541s, planning on buying it the end of the week. When you chose one let us know what one your going with.

You'll be annoying folk bumping this every hour or so.  We don't live on the forum. The machine specialists might visit only once a week or even less often

Many of your questions might be answered by searching the forums. I think searching via google is more productive. For example in google type:

juki 1508 vs 1541 site:leatherworker.net
