Glue question

Recommended Posts

Odd question. I lost a great deal of my vendor information including my glue supplier. The description is as follows: non toxic, water based, latex, contact cement. It comes in a 5 gallon bucket and goes for about $125. I'm out of search ideas on google and haven't been able to find a suitable replacement. Any help would be most appreciated.

Sounds like you might be describing Renia?

Thanks for the heads up. Any personal experience using it? Basically going to use it for glueing bag straps and folded edges on pockets/gussets.

there is absolutely NO SMELL!!

It is permanent fast, this is for true permanent glueing. if you just want to hold something till it is stitched use this one.

Both are fantastic at what they do. I am new to this but cannot believe I will ever use a different product.

Thanks again, sounds like what I'm looking for. It's flexability after drying was a concern. Its 18 bucks for a sm quanity. Well worth a try.

Bought it, tried it. Its alright but not what I'm looking for. Its ok for some applications but not exactly what I was looking for. Renia is much thicker than what I previously used, takes longer to dry and the residue between layers is to heavy. Thanks for the tip. The search continues

You can thin it with a little water, and that helps a lot with the thickness, which I agree is a bit excessive. But at least that means we're paying for glue not water! ;-)

Renia recommends to speed drying times with an oven. I don't have one so I speed things up with gentle application of a heat gun. I use 315 on everything except wet or oily leather.

BTW 315 is neoprene based, not latex. I don't know what effect that has on the leather but I know people with a latex allergy. I have tried Copydex before (a latex glue). It smells funny wet and wants to grab your needle for dear life when dry.
