Problem of Juki TSC-441leather sewing machine

Hi Guys, 

I have  handmade leather goods business in Japan. I run my Juki TSC-441 leather sewing machine for over 8 years, it is great machine! The only problem of this sewing machine is the marks on underside leather by the feed dog. Recently more and more orders of vegetable tanned leather bags that cannot accept the teeth marks. Is there anybody can help me?? Thanks in advance!!

I found a hand crank leather stitching machine on youtube (https://youtu.be/TGSqsUV1Abk), seems no feed dog, can avoid mark on leather? Anybody has experience with this machine?

I run a Cobra 4, it is a Juki 441 clone. The feed dog is perfectly smooth and leaves no marks and still moves the leather fine. You might try contacting http://www.leathermachineco.com or http://www.tolindsewmach.com/cowboy.html

They both are dealers for these clone machines and they may be able to tell you if the feed dog from these machines will work in yours.

Those smooth feed dogs are also available online from places like AliExpress.com. Juki probably makes them, too, and I would hope there's a Juki dealer in Japan.  

You can also try a needle feed throat plate and remove the feed dog entirely. Which option is best really depends on the project. 

I made a lower needle guide for a 441 needle feed throat plate some time ago. This video shows how this setup can work.

Uwe is right, you can use smooth feed dog to improve the mark on leather, even completely remove the feed dog, by using Slotted needle plate, see below picture and linkage:

Thanks Mark, I see the feed dog and presser foot are different from my Juki TSC-441.

Hi, i am using seiko tf-6 leather sewing machine, the problem is the small hook can not sew with thick thread (about V138), I heard that the Claes patching machine can be with large bobbin for thick thread, anybody has experience? Second machine is no problem.

that is a bit of topic in a Juki 441 thread. But yes, the large hook CLAES patchers (subclass 30) easily can handle 138 thread and even larger.
