Arenaldiel Report post Posted August 9, 2018 Well met everybody I have searched for this topic on the forum and found nothing so I hope it is correct to start a new one: I have more than one stitching machine, I bought a batch of them from a closing small farm. I've never used them much because I don't know them well and I want to understand how to operate each one properly in order to use it well. I want to start with the one I know better: Singer 211 U566A It stitch leather well and I've done interesting things. I've found the service manual online but it does not say what maximum thread size I can use. So the question is: what maximum thread size can I use? I hope you all understand my english. Thank you for any help Ciao! Giovanni
Constabulary Report post Posted August 9, 2018 (edited) Most machines of this class can handle size 20 / 138 (with 22 / 140 needle approx) thread but some even size 15 / 207 (with 23 / 160 needle approx) - but depends on how they are setup. CowboyBob Report post Posted August 9, 2018 Yes,Constabulary gave you some good advice. It also helps to use 1 size smaller thread in the bobbin than on top. Also be sure to hold the thread when you start sewing for the first 3-4 stitches to prevent jamming. Arenaldiel Report post Posted August 10, 2018 (edited) thank you, my actual spools have thread size 15/3 and 40/3. Does it means they are size 15 and 40? the 15 is bigger than 40 Edited August 10, 2018 by Arenaldiel
