Uwe Posted September 6, 2018 Report Posted September 6, 2018 I highly doubt there's a plastic tool box sturdy or big enough to ship a Singer 7 Class. I have a modern version of the Singer 7 that's still in the shipping crate. Here's a picture of it just to give you an idea of how to ship them if you care about the machine's survival. It's really forklift territory. No human will lift or move this by hand. Quote

CowboyBob Posted September 6, 2018 Report Posted September 6, 2018 Top of the handwheel 23",top of casting 20",you should take the wheel off to prevent the top shaft from getting bent in case it moves around during the trip, I'll agree w/ Uwe you need a sturdy wooden box to protect it. Quote

Members Yetibelle Posted September 6, 2018 Members Report Posted September 6, 2018 When you get a freight quote, they give you a few options. You can have it delivered directly to your house or place of business, but if you don't have a loading dock (like at home) then they charge you an extra $50-$80. So it is less expensive if you pick a freight terminal and you then pick it up. The tricky part with that is then you need to unpack it and load it yourself, these machines are heavy so bring help. Members carlcarl Posted September 6, 2018 Author Members Report Posted September 6, 2018 Thank you Yetibelle, I just shipped a palletized engine, I prefer terminal pickup and drop-off, its much cheaper also. Quote
