Rockoboy Report post Posted October 16, 2018 Hi there, I saw somewhere hereabouts, a pattern for measuring a book for a padfolio, but I have goggled and searched to no avail. Can somebody please point me in the right direction?
Stetson912 Report post Posted October 16, 2018 Maybe this thread? I didn't look super close at it. But I saw measurements and explaination lol
Stetson912 Report post Posted October 16, 2018 Jls also has a small notebook layout PDF on his website. His is for field notes but, he shows how to make the pattern so you could just scale it up. Or the one I made for my dad measured 19 3/4" by 12 1/4" .That holds a US legal pad.
Rockoboy Report post Posted October 16, 2018 Thanx for your observations @Stetson912. Unfortunately those are not the posts I have seen. It was a line drawing of how to figure out how much to add to the front and back cover, considering the thickness of the book.
zuludog Report post Posted October 16, 2018 Have a look at this video. Although it is for a knife, he shows how to measure & allow for a thick item, and you could use a similar method. It is well worth watching the whole thing for the assembly, finishing, and other techniques, and is a masterclass in leather work 'Designing and Making Leather Slip Cases' by Ian Atkinson

To the left of the quotation marks, you will see what looks like a link in a chain. Just click on that, and paste your link into the box that pops up. Easy peasy... :D
