Hey, I got a color scheme, self-inflicted.  I wanna put it in "how i did that", but I don't mind showing off a little, and never did mind a critique... so ..

  • Show off
  • How do I ..
  • Critique ...
  • :dunno:

EMP_Coloring.jpgSHOW OFF:

  • It does work, but not a "match" exactly.  I think the COLORS were correct, but maybe shoulda tried some flat black ant-streak in the basket stamp? Fer the crosshatch effect ..

HOW DO I ...:

  • Put a ounce er so saddle tan (Fiebings - Angelus likely call it something else) in a small jar. Add a drop of chocolate (not the new "dark chocolate", though that would likely work too) at a time until you get the "rosewood" shade.  Paint the entire surface.  Then "sunburst" with full-strength chocolate ass usual.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMVHrTPf1AQ

CRITIQUE ...:

Uh.. that's yer end ...

I have a question: what would flat black 'ant streak' look like, and how would you apply it? Sounds like you'd use it like an antique?

I'm thinking "ant" was short for antique @Sheilajeanne.

@JLSleather, that is a most agreeable color for those grips. I think ya nailed it again sir.

Yup.  I've used the paste, but only when requested. That's been widespread use for DECADES, but I've never seen it done where I LIKED it. Reminds me of the stain left behind when the rain puddles dry up (blech!).  Ive seen some really great leather work damaged with it.

I COULD HAVE done a "crosshatch" stamp (I'm sure somebody makes a tool just for that), but this fella specifically asked for basket stamp.

Sir, your attention to detail and thoroughness is admirable!

PS. I hope that the word “thoroughness” in the English version has the same positive meaning as in Russian. I sometimes get into awkward situations with my creepy English.

DUH!!  Of course!

Forgive me for being so dense. I used to teach biology, so 'ant' to me means a 6 legged beastie!
