Members AA3JW Posted February 2, 2019 Members Report Posted February 2, 2019 I am currently making one of JLS's pancake holsters for a 1911 BBQ gun. The holster has a rattle snake insert. I am going to hand sew it. Would 8mm tiger thread be heavy enough, or should I use 138 or heavier thread. I already screwed up by (A) sewing the panel on with waxed thread before I dyed it, and (B) Using white waxed thread. Have not got the back ready to yet, so this is just a in work picture Quote
Members sideforce Posted February 2, 2019 Members Report Posted February 2, 2019 .08 Tiger thread would work. Depends on the stitches per inch (spi) used. For 6 spi use 1.0 Rita Tiger thread, for 8 spi I drop to .08. Quote
Members dikman Posted February 2, 2019 Members Report Posted February 2, 2019 I assume you mean .8mm? (8mm is like thick string ). #138 is quite a bit thinner than .8mm. I normally use (approx.) 1mm waxed poly thread for handstitching holsters. Quote
Members AA3JW Posted February 3, 2019 Author Members Report Posted February 3, 2019 Thanks for the replies. I would have machine sewn it, but I all ready had the holes punched before I got my machine. Quote
