bermudahwin Report post Posted June 27, 2019 I have just purchased a used Fortuna skiving machine, and was thinking about a servo motor, but there seems to be mixed feelings on this. Has anyone set up their old Skiving Machine with a servo motor? If so, what power motor did you use please, and any tips on set up that would help, would be gratefully received. Thank you H
Ferg Report post Posted June 27, 2019 I use a servo on my Fortuna Clone. Works great for me. You can make it skive slow or fast. Ferg

Thank you H Depending on what model the Fortuna is. If it is an early model (normally black in colour) the feed wheel and the bell knife are locked together and if the feed is slow then so is the blade and that is not much good. If it is that way then I would separate the drives from each other. If the blade is a constant speed then you could run a servo but to be honest I can get mine to go quite controllability slow or fast in the standard format. The one motor on mine runs the lot including the extractor suction. You can see on my youtube channel a couple vids where I am using one if you like.
