Sallysherman Report post Posted September 25, 2019 Hi all, I am cleaning up my mother's Consew 225 so that I may sell it for her. I looked at the motor and saw these wires sticking out. My mother cannot remember and may have used the machine with these wires sticking out. Before I plug in the machine to see if it works....any ideas what they could be? What I should do with them? Thanks for any advice!!
CowboyBob Report post Posted September 25, 2019 They are for the light & should be 6 volts, you should take the end cover off & see if these wires come off of the windings or are connected to the wiring block where the others connect,if it comes from the windings it's 6 volt for sure. mikesc Report post Posted September 25, 2019 I'd put an insulated end cap ( the screw on type ) on each one as soon as you know what they are , to stop them touching each other ( or anything else ) and "shorting out"..sparking and so on..
Sallysherman Report post Posted September 25, 2019 Thank you CowboyBob and Mikesc!! There is a light connected separately, so maybe it previously was used for the light. The cap must have come off. I will follow your suggestions to take it apart and investigate first and then cap them off. Thanks again!!!
dikman Report post Posted September 25, 2019 I would consider removing them altogether if you're opening it up. I doubt if many would use this connection these days.
