Contributing Member fredk Posted November 6, 2019 Contributing Member Report Posted November 6, 2019 If its for comfort and not protection; There is a cowhide produced as 'clothing'. It ranges from 0.6mm to about 1.8mm. Around 1 - 1.2 mm should do a light vest, 1.6 -1.8mm for heavier Quote Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Members Dwight Posted November 6, 2019 Members Report Posted November 6, 2019 Don't forget to sew a liner inside it too, . . . I'm getting ready for another vest for me, . . . and this time I'm thinking about lining the thing with flannel, . . . this ol' body needs a hand on keeping warm, . . . gonna give that a try. Have fun and don't forget to post pictures when you get done. May God bless, Dwight Quote If you can breathe, . . . thank God. If you can read, . . . thank a teacher. If you are reading this in English, . . . thank a veteran. www.dwightsgunleather.com

Members Appaloosa Posted November 27, 2019 Members Report Posted November 27, 2019 I made a couple custom ordered motorcycle vests out of Elk Hide. Put a stingray hide in the middle for a natural reflector which was pretty cool. Chap leather is good for motorcycle vest. Quote Stardust & Sage ~*~ http://www.smokeandarrow.com
