What is the best leather type to use for a vest for bikers and what oz?

If its for comfort and not protection; There is a cowhide produced as 'clothing'. It ranges from 0.6mm to about 1.8mm. Around 1 - 1.2 mm should do a light vest,  1.6 -1.8mm for heavier

Don't forget to sew a liner inside it too, . . . 

I'm getting ready for another vest for me, . . . and this time I'm thinking about lining the thing with flannel, . . . this ol' body needs a hand on keeping warm, . . . gonna give that a try.

Saw one posted on here a few years back. It was basically stab armour. Looked kinda cool. Alot Like rodeo bull riding armour

I made a couple custom ordered motorcycle vests out of Elk Hide. Put a stingray hide in the middle for a natural reflector which was pretty cool.  Chap leather is  good for motorcycle vest.
