Help with Artisan strap cutter

Recommended Posts

Hi, I need a help with the strap cutter. I bought it recently second hand and it was fine. It was standing for a couple of months and now I was planning to change the blades and can’t unscrew the nut.
Please help me with the direction to unscrew, up or down?

My strap cutter is a different brand but likely the same as yours in design.  It is a left hand thread, so looking at the end of the shaft, turn it clockwise to loosen.

Same with mine and the threads on yours show the same.

Facing the front with the tool inserted as you show you need to pull it down to loosen. If you can not, find something to slide over the end of the stupid little bent wrench they give to get more leverage. Just be careful that the tool doesn't turn sideways on you and you bust your knuckles...ask me how I know!

Or ( I will get in trouble for this I know) you can leave the little bent wrench in there are turn the machine backwards by hand. As it it sometimes easier to get more leverage this way as the wrench touches the table it will stop it from moving and then come loose.

Thank you very much, guys. yes its a reverse nut and clockwise - down for unscrew. Actually Artisan email  the answer pretty quickly as well!

I also had to wait yesterday for a stronger man help! Changed my knives and everything is working fine.
