Somiskid Report post Posted February 17, 2020 So I'm still having trouble getting the beveling of the stamped letters down. If you guys have any advice or tips I would appreciate it!
TSes Report post Posted February 17, 2020 It doesn't look like you used a beveling tool on it. Make sure the tool number starts with a "B".

Ya lol my buddy pointed that out to me after i was like "how to you like my beveling" he said it was a background tool. Thanks for the info on the "b"
resqman Report post Posted February 17, 2020 z780, z781, z782 are three stamps no longer made but occasionally available on ebay for beveling around the rounded shapes of the letters. https://www.tandyleather.com/media/downloads/CraftoolConversionChart.pdf Bottom of page
fredk Report post Posted February 17, 2020 tbh, I think letters don't need beveled around. A bit of black shoe polish rubbed into the letter lines helps to make them stand out from a brown surface

What is the technique to apply it?
fredk Report post Posted February 18, 2020 a. Old fashioned wax based shoe polish in the flat tin. Not the liquid type in a bottle with a sponge applicator. b. put on a rubber glove c. small bit of cloth wrapped around a rubber-gloved forefinger d. get some shoe polish on the cloth, a fair bit, don't skimp. e. apply direct to the letter lines f. Immediately buff off any shoe polish from the raised part of the letter g. set aside and allow to dry, maybe an hour or so. Not letters, but a stamping in a small valet tray done as above
