Members LomaeArts Posted February 20, 2020 Members Report Posted February 20, 2020 I find it amazing how things come in waves. I am still getting my 45k in order when an opportunity to buy a 29K58 showed up at what I thought was an irresistible price. So here it is. It runs very smoothly and came with a stack of leather point needles. Quote
Members Constabulary Posted February 20, 2020 Members Report Posted February 20, 2020 Good buy! Machine seems to be in very good condition. The 29K58 is almost identical to the later Model 29K71 so almost all spare parts for the 29K71 fit on the 29K58 as well. There are just a few minor technical differences. LW member snakeoil is currently restoring his 29K70 which is very similar so if you want to do some revisions on your machine follow his thread: Quote
Members NCArcher Posted February 20, 2020 Members Report Posted February 20, 2020 Nice pickup. You don't see those come up for sale very often around here. Quote
Members LomaeArts Posted February 20, 2020 Author Members Report Posted February 20, 2020 (edited) Thanx guys, i'm pretty pleased. I paid $700AU. I was in the process of looking at a broken one near me. The guy wanted $395AU and it didn't have the base. The seller explained some of the history of the machine, it came out of a boot maker that specialised in Orthotics. Long story short, this is about the only tool left in his shop after he had a medical mishap. The family had to dump most of the other tools including sewing machines and Shoe Trees and Sole sewers. I was also told to buy a couple of presser feet and cut one foot off either side. This is very useful for making orthotics, because it enable you to sew very close to transision. Now I need to learn how to use it well. I already have several products in mind that will be good on this one. Edited February 20, 2020 by LomaeArts Cutting feet Quote
Members dikman Posted February 20, 2020 Members Report Posted February 20, 2020 Great buy! As NCArcher said, they don't seem to come up too often. I recall one for sale here over a year ago and they wanted double that price!!! Quote
Members LomaeArts Posted March 7, 2020 Author Members Report Posted March 7, 2020 All the machined needed was new needles and a new leather belt. My wife and I got sewing on it this morning, went through 2 bobbins! It is a nice machine to sew on. Quote

Members LomaeArts Posted November 27, 2020 Author Members Report Posted November 27, 2020 I have a 29k in the shop. the needle retaining screw head has seen better days I tried buying a screw from ebay only to discover it is too small. So may I ask What is the thread of the screw that holds the needle highlight in the picture? I would like to try and source something locally. Quote
Members Constabulary Posted November 27, 2020 Members Report Posted November 27, 2020 (edited) Parts number is 237F - I´m not 100% sure if 237 is the same as 237F but maybe this may help you: https://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/screw_threads Edited November 27, 2020 by Constabulary Quote
