Members Dragons Pearl Posted October 2, 2007 Members Report Posted October 2, 2007 Looking for a beginner/intermediate filigree pattern for a billfold, if there is such an animal. I want to try one and the free pattern shown on the Tandy site just doesn't feel right to me. Course it could just be the coloring that is used on it. Could any pattern be used and just cut out the background instead of ...umm... backgrounding it? Quote
Contributing Member ClayB Posted October 2, 2007 Contributing Member Report Posted October 2, 2007 A lot of patterns could work to filagree instead of background, but not all. You have to be careful that you dont cut out parts that hold the pattern together, or leave pieces just hanging. Take a close look at the pattern and you should be able to get a pretty good idea if it will work or not. Quote
Moderator Johanna Posted October 3, 2007 Moderator Report Posted October 3, 2007 I saw some stencils in the new Tandy catalog, and I know Hobby Lobby has a bunch of stencil patterns in stock. Like Clay said, just watch that you aren't taking out too much and damaging the structure, and you can make a filigree pattern. (Do a search on here for "Vera"- she and her husband do some awesome filigree work!) Johanna Quote
Members Mike Posted October 20, 2007 Members Report Posted October 20, 2007 Al Stohlman's Top 20 book has several examples of filigreed wallets. Quote
