BWL Report post Posted March 1, 2021 I was at a resale shop the other day and saw a chair for sale with weaved seat and back. As a leatherworker and craftsman I instantly got the idea of building my own version of this chair and using leather for the weaved areas. What do you think? Any ideas? Thanks for reading my post! billybopp Report post Posted March 2, 2021 The only things I can think of that you'd want to watch out for is now the leather straps are attached, they'd have to be good and strong, and leather stretch. You might be able to pre-stretch the leather some to help out with that. Otherwise looks really really cool!! Be sure to show off if you decide to make one! - Bill
fredk Report post Posted March 2, 2021 Your choice of leather will determine your comfort ie, upholstery leather will have more stretch to it so it'll be a 'softer' seat, stiff veg tan will give a stiffer seat you could use upholsters webbing stretcher pliers to pull the strips, or use a framer's stretching pliers
BWL Report post Posted March 5, 2021 (edited) Thanks to everyone for your comments, your Ideas. This will go on my project board. My thoughts on wood; Walnut or Mahogany. They both carve and finish well. I well keep you posted when I start this project. Edited March 5, 2021 by Barbed Wire Leather
