Pfaff 335-17/01 BL, does anyone know about this sublclass?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Recently I came across this Pfaff 335 with a subclass I couldn’t find any info online. It doesn’t have the H2 or H3 alphabet and I also can’t find any infos on BL. Could anyone who knows anything about this particular subclass pls provide me some infos, like its capabilities, and what kind of leather thickness will it sew? Thanks.

Tony

it´s a binding machine so go ahead and check the foot lift and test sew it that will tell you the true story. You never know if a used industrial machine has been altered or not. The data plate shows the setup the machine has left the factory with (in best case) but not if someone did some technical alterations over the years (or decades). Industrial sewing machines can be set up for dozens of different sewing operations w/o showing the actual setup on the tag. You know what I mean? Test sewing the machine is always the best bet

Maybe this list will help you a little bit.

Thank you Folker and Jimi for your precious info and reference. Any idea the 17/01 means anything?

Have you looked at the PDF folker uploaded?? If you look on page 6 where the binder 91-040 452-23 is, i think it refers to the binder installed on the machines 17/01 and 17/02?

335 17 means for binding so the /01 will be the type of binder setup.

Hi Jimi,

Thanks for pointing out, I also notice the model version is either B, BN or BB, never seen a BL before, wonder what’s the difference between this alphabet? I also notice  the new version  model is 335-17/01, the boxy white colours made in China, but missing the B alphabet

Base on this 2 sets of  reference, I see B is for medium materials , and L is for leather, so can I assume BL means medium thickness leather? 508773E4-28C6-4444-9463-538900A7EC54.jpeg.9cae2943481a81cd4bc397f2fd11f468.jpeg

Yes i think you are correct. I think the heavier duty models are the H2 and H3?

would think this machine is an H2 because of the medium materials B in the model plate.

Thanks guys for the infos and personal opinions. Actually I sew more duck canvas than leather and it can go as thick as a few layers of 24oz. This machine is selling at $460, the cheapest I have came across so far. I probably could negotiate for a lower price, but I need to find the time to go test out the machine first.

Folker, what do reckon is a good price for this machine?

On my end they often sell between 800€ and 1200€ w. motor and table in good used condition so when $460 is USD then its approx 385€ - thats less than half the lower end price!

You can be sure - that offer would not last a day on Ebay or classifieds.

Hahaha, I like the way you put it. That’s why I said this is the cheapest I had found so far. Most probably I could get it slightly cheaper. Last year I almost bought a 335-H3 for $635, but glad I didn’t jump into it as I was hopping that the price will drop, but guess my patience pays off now. I bought a few machines last year, all thanks to Covid19, as a few local businesses wind up. Bought 2 Singer 211, and a 6 threads Yamato overlocker.
