Members KennethM Posted March 23, 2021 Members Report Posted March 23, 2021 Hey guys I have the opportunity to get this machine for $700 with a sailrite motor.. I never used a post bed machine before.. I was wondering if this machine would be good for hat patches? My patches are 6-7 oz thick normally On facebook I was told to get a patcher vs a post bed for hats but idk Idk if I am mis typing something or what but I'm not finding much info on this brand/model online Quote
Members CastleLeatherWorks Posted March 23, 2021 Members Report Posted March 23, 2021 theirs a dealer in so cal where im located who was selling some yamata post beds and they looked and performed very nicely. great for sneakers/bags/hats id say go for it. if you're local maybe take a hat and patch to see if you can do a test run. i think this would be more beneficial than a patcher. i don't like patchers so i might be slightly biased.. DonInReno Posted March 23, 2021 Report Posted March 23, 2021 I see a lot of gc/fy810 machines - could it be the person listing it for sale omitted the “c/f”? https://www.amazon.com/Yamata-Lockstitch-Reverse-Assembly-required-DIY/dp/B01MRPOWDC/ref=pd_sbs_1?pd_rd_w=4hKkI&pf_rd_p=651d64d1-3c73-45b6-ae09-e545600e3a22&pf_rd_r=WNR7DMEE0TPMQVBWZWZ0&pd_rd_r=a5a2b476-553f-48aa-bcba-461c5f521e18&pd_rd_wg=wXtj2&pd_rd_i=B01MRPOWDC&th=1 Quote
Members Constabulary Posted March 23, 2021 Members Report Posted March 23, 2021 (edited) Depends on where you want to sew the patches. I have used both post bed an patcher machines. Patchers are a bit more versatile f.i. for sewing inside pockets but for patches on caps post bed machines are nice too but it depends. I´m mainly using a plain foot and no roller foot on my post bed machine. A roller foot can be useful for sewing round and oval patches onto things. If you have the chance better test the machine before you buy it. Edited March 23, 2021 by Constabulary Quote
Moderator Wizcrafts Posted March 24, 2021 Moderator Report Posted March 24, 2021 I use a walking foot post machine to sew patches onto hats and other areas on vests and jackets where I can sew through the lining, or move it out of the way. I use my long arm Adler patcher to sew patches onto sleeves and legs and over pockets. Quote

I don't think I ever be sewing any patches onto anything besides hats so I'm thinking this should be good to go Quote
Members Constabulary Posted March 24, 2021 Members Report Posted March 24, 2021 The 810 is not a walking foot machine. Off the shelf it has a roller foot. Quote
