Members Brooks125 Posted April 7, 2021 Members Report Posted April 7, 2021 I just picked up some TF Barge. I work in an enclosed space and figure it's time to start thinking seriously about what I'm using. Is there a significant performance difference between TF Barge and the regular Barge cement? Is there even a significant difference in the fumes? I'm hoping it's not like the old model glue compared to the huff-less glue that didn't actually work well. Of those of you that use it, what do you think? Quote
Members DJole Posted April 7, 2021 Members Report Posted April 7, 2021 I only have the TF Barge cement, like you. I've never used the "real" stuff. Before I picked it up, I used various white glues (like Tandy's EcoWeld), but I needed something stronger for other projects. I'll be interested to see comparisons. Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted April 9, 2021 Contributing Member Report Posted April 9, 2021 I've use both the "reg" barge and the TF barge. Both work well - no worries. The TF was still 'smellier' than I expected. Quote

Members Squilchuck Posted April 10, 2021 Members Report Posted April 10, 2021 TF also has a strong smell, but I assume it is less toxic without T. Same with Renia Top Fit which I use too. I wear a respirator and have a vent fan. I'll use both when I have to glue wet leather, like in saddle making, but otherwise I switched long ago to Renia water-based glues. They work great - no toxic smell, apply easily, and bond great. I've had no problems with gluing dry, then wet molding after a brief dunk in warm water eg for a holster. -John Quote
